Tremec TKO 500 TransmissionReplacing the Tremec TR-3550 is the stout TKO 5 speed line of Tremec Transmissions. TKO-500’s and TKO-600’s are so named for their torque rating – The Tremec TKO-500 is rated for vehicles that put out up to 500 lb.-ft. of torque while the Tremec TKO-600 is rated for vehicles putting out up to 600 lb.-ft. of torque. TKO 500 and 600 are basically the same transmission. Both TKO transmissions are 5 speed overdrive transmissions and are available in different gear ratios for different applications. TKO transmissions are strong and durable performers and can be installed into GM, Ford and some Mopar powered vehicles. Of course you will need the correct bellhousing, clutch etc. Tremec TKO’s are ideal for swapping out Top-Loader transmissions and Muncie 4 speeds. All TKO transmissions have 8 shifter positions (using special kits to relocate the shifter) giving them the flexibility to be mounted in new and older cars, trucks and street rods.
